On 14th August 2021, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Tiburon Peninsula in Haiti. To date, at least 2,207 are confirmed dead with over 300 people still missing. With more than 136,000 buildings destroyed, including hospitals and homes, many have been left without shelter, access to safe drinking water and necessary medical care.
Water filtration brand, LifeStraw, has been working around the clock to get life-saving filtration devices to Haiti to help give those in need access to clean, safe drinking water. LifeStraw has also partnered with a number of other organisations including Unlocking Communities, Food for the Poor, Fundación Stefano, Alianza Solidaria, Convoy of Hope, and Share Hope to deliver over 1,000 personal, household and high-capacity filters reaching over 12,000 people. Several large purifiers have been placed in field hospitals to ensure medical staff and patients have access to drinking water.
LifeStraw will continue to work with partners on the ground to support relief and provide access to safe water and have set up a Go Fund Me to help raise funds – 100% of the donations go to the manufacture and distribution of filters, LifeStraw does not profit from your generous donations.
