It’s no surprise that consumers are making more eco-conscious decisions when shopping. Keen to find innovative ways to spend less, factoring in durability, reusability, and repairability when spending has been a key trend for 2022 (Deloitte). Leading outdoor gear supplier, NEMO Equipment, has accepted its responsibility to reduce its carbon footprint. The brand became Climate Neutral Certified in 2022. It has also set the goal of cutting its emissions in half by 2030.

In another effort toward becoming even more sustainable, NEMO Equipment has launched Endless Promise; a collection of products that fulfils the brand’s promise to support adventure forever. Keen to skip over the small, incremental steps, NEMO has updated their popular synthetic sleeping bag series, the Forte, to be truly sustainable for 2023

This three-season sleeping bag is packed full of tech, mirroring NEMO’s mantra of never bringing anything to the market that doesn’t offer a meaningfully better experience than what’s already out there. The sleeping bag is spoon-shaped, perfect for side sleepers, offering more room at the elbows and knees for optimal comfort. The Forte also features Thermo Gills, which help regulate your temperature during the night without having to fully unzip the bag. To top it off, the Forte Sleeping Bag is an Endless Promise product. So, what does this mean?

Zero Waste Materials

Over 87% of NEMO’s emissions happen before the product has even left the factory. When developing Endless Promise, it was vital to go back to the beginning and use as few resources as possible. The result? Any fabric or material left after the cutting process is reprocessed and/or repurposed so nothing goes to waste.

Net-Zero Carbon Footprint

Endless Promise products are made with greenhouse gas emissions in mind and materials with lower emissions take priority. Life Cycle Assessments are done for products to measure emissions and they are offset through the purchase of verified carbon credits. Carbon credits generate projects that work to clean up our atmosphere, compensating for emissions that haven’t been eliminated. Carbon credits support local economies and fund work that’s making a real impact.

Total Circularity

When the sleeping bag reaches the end of its life and can longer be repaired, NEMO will take back the sleeping bag for recycling. NEMO is working towards an EU recycling facility partnership for 2024.

NEMO’s Endless Promise Forte Sleeping Bag will be available from spring 2023. The brand is excited about expanding its Endless Promise range in the coming years. You can read more about NEMO’s sustainability efforts here.
