Three years on from our last Spring PR Camp Out, team Spring hit the open road again and headed for the Jurassic coast. Nestled in the Dorset countryside, down from the historic Corfe Castle (which our resident historian, Jo, can share a fact or two about), Spring PR’s camp was set. Despite bell tents and beer aplenty, the Spring PR Camp Out wasn’t to be mistaken for a leisurely trip. Brands and eight carefully-selected media were fully immersed in the great British outdoors, from riding the swells of the Atlantic during coasteering to scaling the face of Dancing Ledge whilst rock climbing. It was an event not to be missed.

That was one of the coolest, fun, and exciting outdoor events I have ever been to! I feel very lucky to have joined in and meeting you all in person was a really big highlight!

Isaac Kenyon, adventurer

Hosted by Land & Wave, who provided the activities and camping facilities, the Spring PR Camp Out saw brands and media get together for two days of camping and thrilling outdoor activities. The brands provided kit for the media to test, delivered presentations on brand backstories and information on the gear provided. Representatives were then there on-hand to answer any questions.

‘A task that involved both guts, and teamwork.’

“There’s always a buzz in the air as people start arriving the first evening.” says Spring’s Abbie. A warming dinner followed by introductions around the campfire were shared that evening. Then to bed ready for the day ahead.

After the first night of camping, the attendees plunged into the ocean and scrambled across the rocky shoreline. A task that involved both guts and teamwork. Coasteering is an activity that gets your heart racing like no other. It’s the perfect way to kick off Camp Out. After lunch, Vaude rucksacks were packed, AKU boots tied and LifeStraw bottles filled ready for a hike to the Poole Harbour viewpoint. Dressed in Páramo and ThruDark, which uses Polartec Thermal Pro, the media both looked and kept cool whilst admiring one of the biggest natural harbours in the world.

‘Memories of the day were shared as embers glowed in the night.’

Returning to camp, faces sunkissed, homemade burgers were served as everyone kicked back with a bottle of beer. With the sun setting over camp, everyone headed to the mess tent for a movie night. Showcasing inspirational ambassador and brand achievements, the campers tucked into kelp popcorn from Peninsula Kelp Co, featured in Elliot Brown’s Feamainn. Warming up around the campfire before bed was essential and memories of the day were shared as embers glowed in the night.

Following breakfast, everyone headed off to the woods for bushcraft activities. Cooking s’mores around the campfire (courtesy of NEMO Equipment), archery and firestarting were on the agenda. An Elliot Brown watch bezel was even used to create a spark. Adventurer Anna Blackwell shared her s’more secret – lick the marshmallow before you roast it, and it won’t burn. The afternoon saw a hike down to Dancing Ledge for rock climbing. The ocean lapped against the rocks metres from our feet. The walk is a steep one, so thankfully LEKI poles were on hand. At the cliff, cheers of encouragement came from the bottom of the rock face. New friends belayed and climbed together.

The event was better than I could have ever imagined. Right from the start I felt comfortable and enjoyed getting to know the Spring PR team, the brands and the other influencers.

‘It’s the perfect way for both parties to connect around campfire cocktails…’

Spring PR’s Camp Out is loved by media and brands alike. It’s the perfect way to connect around campfire cocktails (thanks Ian!) whilst testing out NEMO’s Stargaze chair, with feet snuggly warm in Darn Tough Vermont socks. Then waking up to bacon sandwiches and hot coffee in a Hydro Flask before diving in to outdoor activities. All that’s left to say is a quote from Elliot Brown Watches’ Ian Elliot: “Such a lovely like-minded bunch was a feeling shared when saying goodbyes.”. We are looking forward to seeing our brands for the Camp Out again next year!
